Setting eggs tonight! Anyone want to join me?

Oh bad news Chikn-Chik

I was hoping you would have some miracle development occurring or something! Hope the guineas start to lay soon for you!

Out of the 7 duck eggs I have set - all are developing!

I also put in 10 guinea fowl eggs that were over 14 days old....... 4 are showing no signs of any development, looks like two may have been early quitters and 3 look to be developing!

Checked my eggs tonight and the blue rocks and the delawares are not fertile. I have 13 Australorp that look to be going though!! I'll set some more Deles and Blue Rocks tomorrow and hope those young cockerels have figured it out. I finally have a couple of Barred Rocks to add too!! .....stan

I candled my eggs earlier today, and I saw definite development in 6 of the 7. Navy had no veining, but it's still early enough on that I'm not going to toss it just yet. I'll check again (and again) at day 10.

Well guys.. I had a wonderful hatch from the 27th thread just thought i would let you know! I thought I would just run my light over the 12 bbs ameracauna eggs in the bator to see any development, when Iwas wiping out from last hatch, and 10 of the 12 look good.. I will not make any hast decisions yet or even move them until day 10. I sure hope these hatch out. I also have 6 eggs DB and BB from Deb(hot2pot) that will go in tomorrow evening. 3 f them have a slight crack in them but I am going to take a chance.. the postal service really did a job on them.. out of 14 eggs only 3 were not damages 3 with the slight cracks and the rest were busted..

Chikn-chik- soo sorry to hear about the duds. I hatched nothing my first go round with my new to me sportsman but hang in there and things will happen... as soon as the roo "wakes up and smells the coffee!"

hope everyone has a good day!!

All mine look like they are developing. I can see the air sac on 1, the mix i pulled from one of my hens. The other 6 were shipped eggs. Should I see air sacs in all of them on day 9?

Egg Candling Pics: Progression Though Incubation

hope this helps! Good luck on your hatch!

JCress: I love that thread you posted! Such great candling pics AND some u-tube videos too!

Shhinx: LOVE the chick cam!! And the names on the eggs, very clever, shades of blue.... Oh, what my son wouldn't give for some BLRW and at that price!! What a score!

DS and I travelled to Massachusetts from PA last weekend to a Poultry show, before we left home he was of the mindset, 'no more winter hatches'. By the time we got to the show, he was singing a different tune, but couldn't find any hatching eggs to buy =(. Luckily, I had made arrangements with a BYCer before the trip to meet me with some eggs, I didn't tell DS lest he leak this info to DH and blow the whole thing. So he was delighted when we got our eggs, and then, the BYCer gave him his very own Bantam Mille Fleur Cochins eggs! :weee

I know I'm supposed to wait until Tuesday, but am just dying to candle AND with both 'lil kids' home today (no hockey OR gymnastics....). Well, have I rationalized enough? Stepping out to darky dark, windowless bathroom equipped with brighty bright LED and 2 very hopeful youngsters.

okay, so we managed to wait until it got dark out, which meant no moving eggs to darky dark bathroom, Candling was done right at the bator, so.... The outcome:

30 set 12 clear

18 looking good!

ALL 6 Bantam MFC looking good with veining and air sacks! Woo hoo!
Blue/Black/Splash Orps 3 ok 9 clears! =(
EE. 7 looked OK 3 clear
White Leghorn Cross 2 looking awesome, one waved at me -gonna name her smarty pants!
