Setting eggs week of 7/13... Anyone with me??

Mind if I join in? I just set 15 red/tuxedo coturnix eggs from Stellar and 1 that I watched my golden female lay this morning. My last batch made it to the day before lockdown, but then my 4 year old turned up the temp in my homemade bator to 120. They didn't make it. So this batch is in my bator 2.0, which is (hopefully) out of reach. I hope they do well, they're gorgeous birds.

I have a store bought one, LG. Works well, but seriously considering making a homemade incubator just for lockdown. Large fowl tend to bump their heads on the coil in the LG.

So please keep us posted.

I've also had several chicks stick their beaks in the fan and cut themselves. I like the LG to incubate but would love a different hatcher!

WHAT? This IS Friday the 13th!!! My poor little egglets are trying to hatch today!

Anyway I will be getting eggs next Monday or tuesday i should anyway if upsp does its job well.Is that sort of in the week of July 13 ? About JUly 16-18th really.
So iam in if iqualify.About 4 days late.

It doesn't matter to me!! I just want to have fun and have people to talk to when I am jonesing to candle my eggs before I should!!

Got my replacement Gold and Silver Laced Brahma eggs today. My egg guy sent me a dozen of each. He's the best.

Got them resting in my egg room in cartons until tomorrow morning. Sure hope I get some silvers this time.

ok so you have said that about your egg guy twice... i may need details!!! Does he have alot of breeds and if so does he ship to PA??

Hey I have a question, if the temp falls below 99.5 for a few hours... only by a few degrees... are the eggs still good or are they a lost cause??

Oh, and I have made it to day 3 and I haven't even opened the bator except to put more water in.... YAY ME!!! lol

We set eggs under our broody hen yesterday. Does that count? We've never done it that way before but we figured it was warm enough outside that if they were fertile it should work alright.

Just set my 12 duck eggs.. Scared! They are shipped so wont be turning for several days...

Just passed 48 hours with my first batch ever.I placed from Local Breeders- Cuckoo Marans, Blue Orps, Polish, Americauna, various Bantams, heritage Rhode Island Reds. Total of 50 eggs I was not going to do any shipped eggs this time because I know my first hatch may not be up to par........... BUT................ Then I placed a 99 cent bid on Ebay for some HinkJC Lavender Orps and Lemon Cuckoo Orps and got lucky. 12 eggs shipped from my two most wanted colors for less than 13 bucks(Orps are my favorites). Won the auction 10 minutes after I set my first eggs and they showed up this morning. Less than 33 hours after I won. Not bad!!! I am excited. Have not candled yet but the package looked great and the eggs were packed beautifully. They are sitting in my closet at a cool 64 degrees until tomorrow morning.

Super excited about our first hatch. I don't know if I can make it till the 1st. I am soooooooooooooo impatient.


YES just got off the phone and am going to pick up 10 Black Copper Marans chicks in the morning. It's been an ok week..................

I have been wanting BCM's and Lavender Orps for so long. It has finally all fallen in place!!!!!! Sometime patience is a virtue. LOL I sure know how to contradict myself.........

Ok so my good deal just went bad!!!!!!!!!!! After really looking at the eggs 5 of them have hairline cracks and 2 of those are actually broke. So sad :-(
