Setting eggs week of 7/13... Anyone with me??

I will candle a day or two early, so probably on Friday or Saturday. Depends on when I get this next shipment of eggs in. I just got a super nice PM from a lady who has too many Swedish Flower Hen Eggs for her bator. She offered to give them to me for free for just the cost of shipping!

I am so excited, I can barely contain myself!

Boo one of my runner eggs was starting to smell so did a quick candle and sure enough it was looked gross inside all the rest look like day 4 which i am on....

Well out of the 24 eggs I set and 13 that candled something on day 4 I'm down to 8 that still have a chance at day 7. I think my incubator fluctuates temp too much so I am going to put an Omega temp. process controller and a type J thermocouple sensor in after these are done.

They are silkies... sorry I didn't back to you sooner, but having family issues the last few days and have been exhausted from the stress...

I like the Lavender Orps, just wish they had the feathered feet. I just love feathered feet...I'm weird so be it.

OMG!! I am the same way!! I love the MF D'uccle... they have "booted" feet!! they are awesome, but they are true bantams, so I don't know if you like LF or are open to banties....

My son wanted to see "blood in the egg like my sister did" so I candled a Polish egg for him and we can see the embryo swimming around. His statement "HOW COOL IS THAT"

So neat!

Love to hear about kids getting excited about stuff like this!!! As the next generation I feel it's so important for them to learn to if not love at least appreciate things in nature and the circle of life... otherwise I fear our grandkids and great grandkids will be living in a sterile world... all techno and no heart!! Great job!!

I candled 3 random eggs and saw veining in 3 of them

(mini tribal!). That will hold me over till day 10. At least I know that there are some growing.

where did you get the silkie eggs??? I have some in the bator but I don't think that I am gonna have any hatch!!!

well, I shut the bator off... they were all either duds or had the blood ring... not a single one outta eight had veining!!!

I am so sad... can't believe it!!

That really sucks. Are you going to get some more? This is a good facebook group with a lot of people in your area. http://www.facebook.com/groups/237691836313553/ I would reccomend making a post on there and let people know what eggs you are looking for. Bet you will find then within easy driving distance. Let us know what you do.
