Setting my eggs tonight (April 10) Any tips?

raimnel, how are the 2 broody eggs doing? Yikes!!

Nothing under our broody yet. My son is really dissappointed. Today would be day 21 I think. We put them under her at 6pm on friday, April 9th. Trying not to panic yet. she keeps stretching her head back by her rump and listening so I think there is something going on but I picked 1 egg up and I didn't hear anything or feel anything. Hopefully it was just sleeping. Anyways, wanted to see how all of the other hatches were doing and give this a little bump up. So do tell.

well, I was right! I have one out and at least 4 more pipped

The 3 from the other breeder will wait until tomorrow I predict. At first candling on day 3 the ones that are hatching today were bigger, must be the genetics as they are both the same breed, just different lines

How is everyone?

Raimnel did the chicks do ok with the switch from broody to bator?

Here on day 20..... nothin....

Patience grasshoppa...Mine didn't do anything on day 20 either. The Next day, and well into the morning hatched like crazy. I now have....7 silkie chicks, and one EE.

I haven't got any clear pictures yet.

All you can see when I try thru the small windows is blurs flailing about. I still have one silkie egg left, and 3 EE eggs so I don't want to open the bator yet. Today is day 22.

I don't expect the 3 blue eggs to hatch. This happened last time, so I'm beginning to think neither of my two roos and her are a good match. The one silkie egg in there may hatch. I've seen it wiggling.

Bluemoon

Congrats bluemoon. I'm working tomorrow at the hospital so if there is any action I''l probably miss it. Figures with my first hatch.

I now have 9 chickies happily (more like drunkly) walking about in the 'bator
I went to bed with 2 hatched (#1 silkie, #2 EE) and at midnight woke up to peeping (#3 silkie)
Woke up at 3:30 and check on them and 1 more hatched (#4 Silkie) ETA #4 is the one the broody slammed with her beak 2-3x's
Woke up at 6 and 2 more were on their way (#5 &6 both silkies)
then at 8am yet another (#7 silkie)
then 8:45am another one (#8 silkie)
and at 9:10am another one (#9 EE)

3 more to go, 3 silkies all have pips!

the 2nd one from the broody doesn't look very good, it has been peeping in the shell (internal pip) since about noon yesterday and no pip. I know I know I shouldn't have but I piped it, well I did find out that it looks very shrink wrapped

I'm hoping it can make it out. If not I'll still have 11 out of 12. Not bad for a 2nd time hatching in a homemade 'bator.

Well congrats on all of the hatches so far. I am impatient too! lol. I want to go check her again but should leave her alone I guess. Sitting here twiddling my thumbs! I am also waiting on a miniature mare who doesn't seem to want to foal either. ARG
