Setting Today (03-02-2012)

it probably won't do any harm. I wouldn't worry about it.
I set the same day as you and I'm planning on locking down my eggs the night of the 18th day, right after turn number 3.

Candled mine last night, 4 were clear, darn rooster not doing his job. Anyway, can see in everything but the maran eggs, just to dark to see into. Temp staying steady at 99.5, humidity at 38%, turned 187 times as of this morning. Second time opening the incubator this hatch, first time I ran the water hose into the tray. Hope we all have a great hatch.

mine hatch a week from tomorrow!! i am really getting excited!! i always have hatched in egg cartons (except maybe my 1st time). but i'm tempted to just take em' all out and lay them on their sides, not worry and let them be. i like the egg carton method, but sometimes i just want to try something different, but i'm afraid to.

I recandled last night. It looks like only 7 of my 19 Ameraucana eggs made it through the first 4 days of temp issues. I thought there was more... Two look like they have blood rings. The shipped Cochin eggs faired well. I only removed one that quit around day 6, so I still have 7 out of 12 of those, too. And, 6 of the 13 shipped Ameraucana eggs are still developing. So, I started with a full incubator (45) and I have 20 left. I knew most of my Ameraucana 19 eggs weren't going to make it since I had to hoard them for 3.5wks before I set them anyways.

No more candling until day 18, now!

So I have to leave town for 3 days and I'm having my husband's grandfather egg-sit for me while I'm gone. He helped us build the incubator and he and his dad used to hatch eggs when he was a kid. He's pretty detail oriented so I'm not worried about him messing it up. I am a little worried because I have to take the incubator to his house. Should I put my one (yes one) egg in a carton section during transport so it doesn't roll around? We have a power inverter in the truck so the incubator will be running the whole time and it's only a couple of miles away.

i would think it would be just fine. but the humidity might get messed up with water sloshing around in there. but i'm assuming you're taking all the water out before transport? and it's kinda cute, but why only one egg?

and reyvaughn....i'm sorry to hear about the eggs you lost.

i'm happy you still have 20 left though. and i'm glad your shipped eggs are doing well!
