Setting up the bator and setting shipped eggs this week....anyone else wanna join?

I hear peeping outside in the coop..the eggs are getting ready to hatch..they are due tomorrow.
6 days till lock down

I too am having a staggered hatched by two days..I am splitting the day. Late for one hatch and early for the other.

The most important thing is humidity and air cell placement. If they are all good it is better to go into lock down later.

OMG!!! That is so exciting.....they are talking to mama as they get ready to hatch. So it is better to delay lockdown by a day with staggered hatches as long as humidity and air cells look good? That is good info to know. Thanks!

Yes..just like they do when they are in the bator..and mom coos back..it is so cute..I probably spent an hour just talking chicken talk to the eggs under mom.

I love this! I love watching momma take care of her babies! It is the best! Threw out the TV years ago...never looked back, who needs it when you have chickens?

I couldn't stand the fact I didn't know what was going on in my silkie eggs, so candled 3 of the 17 and actually saw a itty bitty leg stretch out

! It was amazing and so cool and exciting!! I haven't hatched silkies before but they must be no bigger than a bumble bee when they are born due to their tiny eggs !

Can you please show pictures of your silkies?! I made a thread looking for pics from BYCer's of their Silkies from BARGAIN "Garry Farms" and no one has replied. I would love to see what the chickies look like all grown up!

I just got eggs from Garry Farms! I can post pics when the babies arrive! Just have to figure out how to do that ! I will follow your thread - would love to see other silkies from them!

So excited for you and your broody! You may actually have chicks by now:D so is the protocol to call in sick on hatch day? :D

Bad wind storm here this am, so worried lights will fail. We do not have a back up generator... What's a girl to do? Maybe I'll make a good sized fire in the wood stove and move bator over by it.

Day 18, finally, I removed the turner today and upped the humidity to 60+ % all the eggs have something in them, ? which ones will hatch.
I hope for Mattie's hopes we get a nice bunch. I need a little smiley saying a prayer. Good luck every one. I am glad no one was hurt in the recent storm. Scott(Yard-full-of-rocks) has a home 10 miles from where one of the tornadoes hit but they are ok too. Whew! close call.

Anxious to hear how your hatch goes! Peeling me away from the incubator during lockdown is impossible! My family knows that they are on their own for those couple of days!
