Setting up the bator and setting shipped eggs this week....anyone else wanna join?

Well my first try at hatching shipped eggs was heartbreaking..... I ordered 24 shipped eggs and received 30.   Of these 3 were broken from shipping.  I put 27 shipped eggs in the bator, only 6 made it to lock down.  Of these 6 only got 1 to hatch, the others died in their shells around day 19 or 20.  I also set 4 of my barnyard mixes at the same time and all 4 of these hatched with no problem.  I have 5 light Sussex shipped eggs in the bator now with some local mixed breed eggs.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for these eggs.

That's rough. So sad that they made it til the end then gave up. At least your own eggs hatched well. Good luck on the new eggs!

Hey Justine - your babies are lovely! So cute - I can't wait. My temp finally stabilized last night (of course I got up in the middle of the night to make sure though!). I ended up having to adjust my wafer thermostat almost a full turn - couldn't believe it. I will definitely make note of it and see if I run into the same thing on any future hatchings. I am hopeful that my eggs are still OK.

Sounds like everyone else is doing well and making progress! Can't wait for my own to start pipping and peeping!

Shipped eggs are so delicate..you have to do so much with them before you even set them. If you do not recieve fresh eggs you will have a low percentage.
How were your air cells upon arrival?

Checked eggs at about 5:30 this morning, been at work ever since. I'm headed home here in a minute. Only on day 19, so not really expecting much yet.

Well it looks like 6 is going to be my number! I had 11 eggs in lockdown, 6 hatched, 1 died after pipping, the other 4 I still have in the bator, but I don't have much hope for them. What hatched is so cute I can hardly stand it! I was hoping for at least 4 knowing the risk of shipped eggs, so I am happy! 4 white, 1 black, 1 buff!

Day 14 here. Out of 14 shipped eggs, I still have 11. I candled eggs this morning and I might have one quitter.
I will check it again. I also still have 1 barnyard surprise. We had a power outage last week and temp went
down to 86.
