WOW, I missed alot since I was at work all day! My latest update is 20 chicks hatched, 3 eggs pipped right now but I had a terrible thing happen....I lost a chick that had zipped and come out of the shell but there was a big blob of bloody/yolky stuff hanging from it's abdomen (what I call their belly button) almost like the chick hatched too fast and didn't finish absorbing the yolk sac. Anyway, the sac burst and the chick got weaker and weaker and DIED in the bator!

My hubby was home and didn't know what to do. He was sad and he text me to let me know. He said he tried holding it and it was lifeless

He buried it for me so I wouldn't have to see it. I've never had that happen. I know loss is part of this delicate process but so sad it's little life ended before it started. Any of you had that happen before?

Fishermans Wife - your babies are sooooo cute!! 6 is a great number...congrats!

Melinda - how are your eggs? temp? Are you guys getting alot of snow yet? NO power outages.....

Well it looks like 6 is going to be my number! I had 11 eggs in lockdown, 6 hatched, 1 died after pipping, the other 4 I still have in the bator, but I don't have much hope for them. What hatched is so cute I can hardly stand it! I was hoping for at least 4 knowing the risk of shipped eggs, so I am happy! 4 white, 1 black, 1 buff!

OMGOSH! They are adorable!! I'm so happy for you! Thanks so much for posting the pics...I wouldn't be able to keep my hands or eyes off from them. lol and this would be my ideal set of colors. I love whites the most but would love a splash of black and buff to.

Ohhhhhh My goodness. That's a whole lotta cute! So happy for your awesome hatch Justine! Chick in #2 should be Dirty Harry or Harriet! You lookin at me? Temp in bator is now holding really well again. It snowed earlier today. Really pretty, dry and fluffy snow. It looked lovely coming down. The wind has really picked up this evening & it has started to snow again. I'm thinking positive htoughts lots of snow but no power outages... Good night evry1

Checked eggs at about 5:30 this morning, been at work ever since.  I'm headed home here in a minute.  Only on day 19, so not really expecting much yet.

Only one silkie out..only one more piped..my temps keep dropping..and humidity is way up.this is taking a long time..my temps must have been lower than registered. I bet I do not have more until later tomorrow...We got hit with a good foot of snow. That has a lot to do with humidity spikes too.

Nancy, I couldn't be happier! I love my 6 sweet adorable babies!! They are sleeping a lot today, and I have out of town guests, so tomorrow we will do lots of cuddling! Thank you for your fantastic care of your beautiful silkies, in turn giving beautiful eggs that you wrapped perfectly for a long trip! Your the best!!
