Will all types of marans rooster crossed with legbar hen produce sex link chicks? I’ve got splash and birchen marans roosters over legbar. 4 hatched so far, no white dot. I’m not that lucky, right?

In my experience, (using Barnevelder over Cream Legbar) the white dot doesn't always show up well if the down color is light as well. Sometimes it is a whispy streak....but it IS there....you just have to look really close.

I've worked with a splash Marans hen, and her offspring were either blue or black against a brown based bird. Blue down can hide white dot-streaks.

I should think the Birchen however would be dark enough base that the barring dot would show well.

You can double check on the genetics calculator.

I can’t find my breeds on there :(

Cream Legbar is a barred bird, so I ran it both barred/cuckoo and red barred because it is a unique genetic factor.

It is based on the Gold Legbar which was a cross of Brown Leghorn (father) over Plymouth Barred Rock (mother)...so that would be your "barred/cuckoo" genetics.

However on TOP of that a cream modifying gene was introduced, which, as I understand it modifies the red tones, especially at hackles, to a silvery cream color rather than red.

I must admit I do not have all the genetics figured out on the Cream Legbar yet, as it seems a bit complicated, and my line (from a hatched breeders egg, that survived a raccoon attack) seems to be more gold based than cream, though my last line (killed by the raccoon) was cream.

However, it is barred that is dominant. I have continually seen my males of the crosses come out black and white barred with red-gold bleed through at the saddle....so I run them as "barred/cuckoo."

My thoughts.

From the Cream Legbar Breedbook, the genetics are considered:
CL genotype is e+/e+, s+/s+, ig/ig, B/B or B/w, w/w ( yellow skin), Id/Id or Id/w ( dermal melanin inhibitor), Cr/Cr (crest), genes for white ear lobes, O/O (blue egg shell), there are other genes that deal with brown egg shell color- one is an inhibitor of brown egg shell color they may carry the gene, rapid feathering k+/k+ or k+/_W, genes for reddish bay eye color. They also carry autosomal red.
