Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I'm not interested in any position of power and have refused a committee place.
I doesn’t have to be a power thing. I reckon it’s a combination of social gatherings and the organisation of the allotment.
Could be a nice opportunity to learn more about nice housing projects too in that neighbourhood. ;)

My chickens were not very interested in free ranging. They had the opportunity for > one hour. Ini mini and Pearl stayed in the run. The others stayed near the coop, but not very long. The neighbour cat was glad the door was open to eat from the pellets.

Four hours today. Dry apart from one shower after mid day.
There was a work day at the field today. Lots of people turned up and did stuff. When I got there there were lots of happy smiling faces and people talking to each other. Never seen anything like it at the field before.
I took membership forms. This is me being the first person to sign and pay getting the treasure's signature on my form.

These two didn't care and were pleased to be out on the fresh grass.

The goose run. It needs so much work doing to it. There are holes in the fence behind the coop with the broken door. The various bits of netting and wire are falling into the run. An object lesson in why one shouldn't build animal enclosures up against a hedge.

Happier geese with fresh water, food and out of the run. They still swear a lot.
Shocking bad manners really.

Don’t blame the geese - if you were dependent on C for your creature comforts you might swear a bit too!

@no fly zone , Beautiful! it must have been worth it to have a little muscle pain tomorrow.

This will be interesting to see🤣. I believe I remember another hen making a nest up high, somewhere in this thread beforeView attachment 3665807
How high up is that nest?
