An hour this morning and an hour this afternoon. A few bouts of drizzle in the morning and back to rain and wind in the afternoon.
C came to the field to bring some mixed grain for the geese and to thank me for their Christmas present before going off to work.
Everybody came out for half an hour or so.
They all got some Christmas dinner.:)
Eldest did as usual a lovely job of Christmas dinner. Seven of us fed and watered.:loveEverybody was suitably restrained about what they spent on gifts this year. I think even the big Christmas spenders amoung family and friends have realised that it's about getting together, not the presents.
It's supposed to be dry tomorrow and me and a couple of friends are planning an easy walk in the countryside in the morning.

How many lbs of meat? We had turkey for christmas dinner, free range and organically fed. A lot better than the usual shop bought offerings.
I’d like to raise a few turkey for the freezer but I have no place close by to process them. And I won’t kill them myself; have many times cleaned turkey, chicken geese rabbits after some else did the deed…. But it’s a lot of work to clean feathers by hand😳

If I had a place to process them I would raise them in a flash. So much nicer than the crappy store bought ones.

Usually they dress out around 12lbs. Sometimes 10lb once I had a 17lb. I didn't weigh and parted him out. I freeze half and cook half for the weeks meat.

Totally different taste. I wish I had someone rather than do myself. Nearest place is 2 and half hours away. And they have a 25 minimum, and have to be there 8am and take home hours later.
Oh and they are Amish so when the weather changes they stop processing
