Question for a quiet Sunday: is this the ancestor of the brown leghorn?

It is said to be from the 1st century BC. Very high quality Roman mosaic (the whole thing is about 12"/30 cm square, so tiny tesserae). Now in the Burrell Collection in Glasgow.

Hi! I love your birds and your yard. Inky in particular is gorgeous. She reminds me of one of my gals.

I haven't paid any tax yet because I'm really not on BYC all that often and I need to dig up some photos. I'm going to try to follow this thread though.

I have a lot of mutts in my flock. Several of them have a Salmon Faverolles father, so they're pretty cute. I am slowly acquiring some pure breeds. I added some Ayam Cemanis, Lavender Orpingtons, a blue laced red Wyandotte, and several rare(ish) breed mixes in the past couple of years. The cockerel chick in my profile photo is Ollie. He hatched this year and was deformed. No matter how much help I gave him, it would never be able to save him from a predator, so he's no longer with me. He was half barred rock, quarter deathlayer, and quarter Pavlovskaya. I love my mutts.
