When I read this I thought ‘careful now’ which brought to mind Father Ted & the St Tibulus episode. Not sure if it still happens but for many years posters with ‘careful now’ & ‘down with this sort of thing’ were a feature of demonstrations in Ireland.

I don't think that made it across the pond to USA. At least I never seen that program. I'm part Irish, Great Uncle was a Priest, so I would have paid attention if I seen it.

Rain all day on and off.

Carbon couldn't manage the perch so I put her in a nest box.
She's on pain meds since yesterday.

It's anthropomorphic, and it's really to make me feel better, but I'm sending Carbon hugs anyway.

Fez left her chicks yesterday, one day shy of their 8 week old mark, which is relatively early here, but perhaps reflects her own youth and inexperience. Nevertheless it seems to have been done without any agro and hassle; she resumed laying about a week ago, so I guess they got used to her disappearing for an hour+ before she was gone for good.

Neither of the cockerels has stepped up to look after them yet... but Gwynedd has been seen tidbitting for the tiny chicks just like their mamas, so maybe he'll spot the older chicks' need for a guardian to look out for them for the next few months.

Chilly but dry this afternoon. I spent three and a half hours with them today.
Carbon died overnight. She didn't leave the nest box.
Henry definitely missed her today. I think everyone will in their fashion.
This is what's left of the 26 chickens I started with a few days short of three years ago.

Not much else to say really.
