Fez left her chicks yesterday, one day shy of their 8 week old mark, which is relatively early here, but perhaps reflects her own youth and inexperience. Nevertheless it seems to have been done without any agro and hassle; she resumed laying about a week ago, so I guess they got used to her disappearing for an hour+ before she was gone for good.
Neither of the cockerels has stepped up to look after them yet... but Gwynedd has been seen tidbitting for the tiny chicks just like their mamas, so maybe he'll spot the older chicks' need for a guardian to look out for them for the next few months.
