Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Interesting dynamics...

Zacchaeus is 4 1/2 months old. The hens have been refusing his advances so far, but he appears to have developed more of a relationship with his cousins, which are 6 weeks younger.

Rahab, Broody Extaordinaire, is still running interference for all the 3 month olds, roosting between the chicks and the other older hens.

They're so much fun to watch!

The left hand side of my face is a mess. I've got a six wide strip of swelling, scabs and dying skin from one side near the top of my skull to just below my left eye. It looks pretty gruesome, close to something from a zombie game.

I wear an eye patch because bright light hurts my eye and my glasses are light sensitive darkening.
I'm on the bus. There's a women with a bit of a brat of a child in the seats in front of me. The child hangs off the headrest the wrong way round in the seat and keeps staring at me and pulling faces.
I bent my head down, took the eye patch off which does cover a lot of the damage and the glasses and then raised my head leant towrds the child and went "wuuuuhwaaah." The child burst into tears.
Sometimes being horrid is just so satisfying. :p

Two and a half hours today. Dry and warm at 20C.
Still cooking mites.

You DO realize that I was laughing at how you handled the brat, not your current condition. ;)

Well when you have something miserable like that going on you should take your fun where you can find it!

You are mean…. But it sure is a good way to learn the kid not to trust strangers. :gig

Hope your face wil cure sooner than later. I would feel really miserable and would probably not get in any bus, shop or public place without a burqa.

Are you sure you got the right medicines? Nowadays I hear nasty stories about the English healthcare system.

Last horror story was from an acquaintance of mine after she got infected from a thick (Lyme). She’s Dutch and was on a vacation in England. Several doctors in the UK refused to help / prescribe antibiotics. After 2 days she contacted her doctor in Rotterdam, her hometown. She got help from her with the antibiotics prescription she needed ASAP to prevent the infection settling into her body.

Tax for small talk. Neighbour cat and the Amrock family with Ini mini, but without Black . Black is improving very slowly, but not fit enough to mother. Another advantage of co-mothering.

Amazing 😆
I wonder if you will be featuring into a nightmare or two?

Two and a half hours today. warm and grey with some evening drizzle.
A few baby mites most still grey so they haven't fed. I just love this blowtorch.:love

The young white cockerel is spending more time with Mow than he is with his siblings. This could pose a problem. I'll see how it goes. Niether cockerel are showing any interest in mating yet and when they do, that will be the time for some difficult decisions.
