She could see them. I think she cries like this to express her displeasure that the rooster doesn't stay with her. In the morning when it's still cold, she wants to stay in the coop, in the evening she wants to roost 30 mn before the other chickens, and that's when she gets very loud !To me it sounds like Chipie is calling out for her flock mates, a request to respond to her call. So she knows where they are. To join or not to join.
That is a mystery. The old farmer Gaston who gave her to us is quite unreliable about those things. When I ask him how old she is, he thinks about it, and replies "yeah...how old can she be ? " And he adds "she was already old when I gave her to you" which was at the beginning of november 2021.How old is Chipie now?
People are judgemental. Freedom of speech works both ways. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, or defending that opinion in an assertive manner. Some people seem to live in a state of being offended but from what I've read, those people don't have any problems stating their opinion, they just don't like it when others do the same.
I have never been offended by anything I've read on BYC, or most of the internet come to that. People seem to forget that if one posts personal stuff one is likely to get some backdraft. If one is particularly sensitive then don't treat the internet as a chat with ones friends in some cosy cafe.
Come on ! All those of us who keep a thread know how much committment it takes to post daily, let alone keep it interesting. It's you lot who make this thread what it is. I just post picture, mostly.![]()
Sounds right. She could see them. I think she cries like this to express her displeasure that the rooster doesn't stay with her. In the morning when it's still cold, she wants to stay in the coop, in the evening she wants to roost 30 mn before the other chickens, and that's when she gets very loud !
So maybe as old as my 3 oldest. My old ladies like it warm and comfy too. That is a mystery. The old farmer Gaston who gave her to us is quite unreliable about those things. When I ask him how old she is, he thinks about it, and replies "yeah...how old can she be ? " And he adds "she was already old when I gave her to you" which was at the beginning of november 2021.
So I suppose at the very least 6, but more likely 8 or 9, or even more.
Nobody needs to stay committed. There are 2 kinds of people. ….Come on ! All those of us who keep a thread know how much committment it takes to post daily, let alone keep it interesting.
Sounds right again. And your pictures are, I believe, very likely not the main reason for which people follow you.
I was thinking more along the lines of the Dundee cake.If you think I'm going to start hand feeding you all walnuts, grapes and other goodies you've got another think coming.![]()
I'm sad. I'm suing you.If you think I'm going to start hand feeding you all walnuts, grapes and other goodies you've got another think coming.![]()
I did not feel that at all reading your previous post.Oh, reading what I wrote I realise it could sound like I was saying I find our host @Shadrach excessively judgemental. It's definitely not what I meant as I was thinking about the way people write on BYC in general. But yes, Shad could make it to the top of the people who don't wrap up what they say ! For better or for worse, or both.
