Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

They weren't ripe enough to eat raw but ripe enough to cook with.
The stinkers knew exactly what they were doing ... definitely NOT wildlife. SOMEBODY owes you a pie, or at least a jar of jam. I think I'd leave a note/sign out there stating just that. Maybe you'll get an apology and a peace offering!

Do you have an address for a few new ex-batts?
I have, a few in fact. Most likely is a trip to Devon to pick some up from The British Hen Welfare Trust. Then there are people who have got some only to find out it isn't all roses and cuddles who now want to move them on.
I've enquired about non layers and RSL roosters and any with disabilities.
These are the ones that people are most likely not to want.

Hey great coop for Hospital or a broody in my book or isolation ?
I would be happy to have one.
This is tax.

I'm sure I can find other topics to upend the status quo!
There are several bits of hearsay which pop up every now and then, and for which I can find no good evidence or support.
Yeah, I doubt you'll run short of topics.:D
I tried out local bread cubes soaked in kefir on the allotment lot this afternoon.
Mind you, it was a bit of a tossup between that and the hadock.:p
I know, I know, I shouldn't be giving them treats because it will degrade the overall protein content.
