Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Are you sure it was C and not her twin sister? 😅 What a difference with the way you described her two years ago. 💜
Oh don't worry, I don't think there has been a fundamental change, just a good day. We all have them from time to time.:p

Skeksis would have been 5 yrs old today. I miss her so damn much. I've never had such a close bond with an animal, and probably never will again. This clip is a few years old. She was telling me she did not like the squirrel she just saw running on the edge of the coop roof.

I find it heartbreaking that you no longer have Skeksis and don't keep chickens any more.

I was wondering where the hell all the reviews were coming from!
Thanks everyone that provided one.

I can't wait for the season to kick in!! The couple that bought my dad's house and I are still great friends. It was the oddest house sale I ever did. We all worked together to get the house to the point it could be mortgaged THEN I sold it to them!

The wife reached out to me recently and told me they want chickens!! I of course informed her to send hubs over for a tutorial on how the coop should be built (he and I worked great together finishing up dad's house before closing) and I told her I will have my hens hatch out chicks for them but they couldn't have them until my flock was done raising them. They also agreed to take the best cockerel of the bunch so super important that they all remain in my flock and graduate from the "Chicken School of Hard Knocks"!
Lucky them! Wish I'd had you to guide/ hold kmy hand when we started out! Woulda saved me a ton of mistakes. I feel now like I should tear my hen house down and starrt over but oh well it is what it is!

I don't know how I missed this article from one of the best and most active educators on BYC.
I like to try and promote such articles and given it's Spring which means natural broody season, now would seem a good time to do it.

We have one broody that went broody and almost killed herself last year. She would not stop.

This year she is broody again. I am trying to convince The Parents to let me hatch eggs again. I got her to stop going back to the nest, but she says she plans to brood this May.

I think I know why she's broody now...

Three and a half hours today. I even got some work done. I've framed the herb patch on my plot and done a fair bit of weeding. I hope to get some stuff planted before the end of the month. Taking a chance in March. It can still get pretty cold at night.

It stayed dry until I left the field at around 19.00 hrs.
Having a big arse obviously has some appeal.. It's Fret under Henry again. She was purring away until Henry decided to move and trod on her head.
You can see Henry's SLM problem. The live mites are dead but there are still eggs below the scales. I'll get those when they hatch. Every year we go through this, sometimes twice a year.:he
Mow's legs and feet are a lot better and hopefully I'll be able to keep on top of the mite problem this year. It's very difficult to get a good picture of Mow's legs because of her feathered feet and her pantaloons.

I have a rooster with red butt skin. We checked for mites and there are none. Do you have any ideas as to what might be happening?
