Still having chick roosting problems.
If you are sure the chicks are at least in the ‘hallway’ or extension you would know they are safe if you add the extra auto pop door opener to this part of the setup somehow.

It would be only temporarily. Within a few weeks / next month the sun goes down a bit earlier, so you can see what is happening and can persuade the chicks to go in before you must leave to catch the bus.

Still having chick roosting problems. I may be part of the problem by being there at roost time. Henry and the others tend to go to roost a good hour before it gets dark. Reasonably enough, I want to go home at 9pm rather than 10pm and I encourage the chicks to go to roost as soon after the adults as possible.
Maybe close up the coop run and walk off, out of sight for as soon as the adults go in give them a few minutes to half an hour before going back to see if the little rascals have managed it?

I have the door for the coop extension made. It just needs an auto door opener. But, I can't fit it until I move the coop. It will come together in time.
Meanwhile, because I need a solution now, I'll fit a wire mesh bolted to the coop covering the cord. Got it bent up today. Hope to fit it later this week.

It seems I was right, I am a major part of the chicks not going onto the coop to roost problem.

The chicks started here, once the adults had gone to roost. They came down on their own and went into the run.

A couple got straight onto the coop extension roost bar, while the other two hovered close by.
The white male was first in. I didn't hear any fuss and he got on the same perch as Mow as far away as possible, that is, welded onto the coop wall.:D
That all went quietly. A few minutes later the grey probably male chick went in. That went quietly to. The grey female went in, came out, went in, came out... Close to 10pm she went in and stayed in; still quiet.
For a few moments it looked like the last chick who is the chick we saved was going to go in then it just settled on the extension bar and the door closed (I forgot to reset the timer).
I put my finger behind it's legs and it stepped back and I lifted the door and put him in. No fuss.
Tonight must rank as the quietest going to roost for many weeks.
I just managed to catch the 10.30 pm bus and got home at 11.35.

Wow that's really late to bed... I'm in the uk to although on the east coast and the sun sets earlier here... but my hens have gone into coop by 8.30pm latest. The chicks shortly after by always by 9pm. The hens have the same auto door you have and it's set at 9.30pm. And 5.30am
