You are a one of the greatest socialising persons I have ever met.

Honestly, I'm not.
I was a kind of hermit when for the first couple of years of posting on BYC and had been for the previous eight years.

28C at 4pm today.
Three and a half hours today.
Fret is still limping. I had another look at he this evening and I can't see anything on the exterior that would cause her to limp.
Mow is still moulting, still off her food but does still forage. Her crop was adequately full when she went to roost.
Carbons back is slowly filling in but the patches on her rear end aren't.

Hip problem perhaps? Venka seems to have an uneven gait sometimes when she runs, especially in the mornings, and I have wondered if she's got a bit of arthritis in the hip. It certainly resembles the way some old people walk, more than it does someone with an issue in their foot or ankle.

Anybody know anything about arthritis in chickens? Since commercial chickens don't live remotely long enough to suffer from this, and commercial operations fund most of the poultry studies, my guess is there is very little proper investigation of the topic.

He doesn't do the internet so the bus pass application would need to be done by post and one has to provide a passport style picture which requires some effort and some expense.

Perhaps he could fill it in and provide a digital photo via your computer, camera, and email? Or there are usually such facilities at the nearest public library for little or no cost.

I would guess that turmeric (in 2nd link) might help for inflammation, horsey people that I know swear by it for their animals

I don't think it's arthritis.

But in any case, inflammation might be part of the problem. Can't hurt.

This afternoon I managed to do something that I've wanted to do for a long time. I got Cruella to free range for the first time

Granted, it was only for about a quarter of an hour to half an hour, and she spent all that time dustbathing, but the awe of seeing the world without "bars" is always the same.

Since the mix breed bantam pen does not have a door that leads directly outside, I needed to have a few things in place to make sure things didn't go south. Most importantly, I needed to make sure she would make it safe back to her pen.

This afternoon also happened to be the first time she perched on my hand, which made it possible to take her free ranging along with the serama. To get her back to the pen, Lady Gaga was very helpful
