Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Went back out to the place with the chickens, but this time took them some organic lettuce to munch on. I did not see that super cute bantam hen the first time we were there. And the one hen had a big old cyst or something above her left eye. Poor girl.

Glad you went back to visit them. They have a nice setup.

Maybe they would appreciate some volunteer help (?)

21/10.
I'm finding it difficult to get the time I would to spend with the chickens due to my messed up sleeping due to the shingles and a recent outbreak of family drama, and of course the weather. Not a lot of point sitting there with the gate open if the chickens don't want to leave the coop extension.
The replacemnt tarpaulin needs to be fitted to the coop and I still need to sort out the hole a rat chewed out.:rant
Apart from these minor annoyances and of course the ever present SLM they all seem to be healthier than I am.

Ex Batts good morning one and all!

Tea is ready.

Temperature is in the 50s and clear.

Have a great day!

My chickens have decided to give me one or no eggs.

Would the drop in the temperature have anything to do with this?

They are moulting and have been giving me three eggs a day.
Yes I think so. The recent temperature drop here has most of my hens not laying, or laying very sporadically. My molting hen hasn't laid since a week before she started losing feathers.

Mine are molting too. I'm getting one egg every other day from 6 hens.
