Drama this morning: a pheasant literally crashed through a double glazed window in the sitting room
I didn't know that was even possible. How fast do they fly???

Wow! Did it survive? I would think that would break its neck, poor thing.Drama this morning: a pheasant literally crashed through a double glazed window in the sitting roomI didn't know that was even possible. How fast do they fly???
When I was a kid people used to scale or fillet alive"killed by air asphyxiation." When I used to fish, we NEVER let a fish just suffocate, they were always dispatched quickly. I can't imagine how anyone could stand to watch a fish gasp for air! :-(
WowNo it didn't. Actually it had enough momentum to end up at the far wall skirting board, were it passed within a minute. Now there are shards of glass on the terrace - obviously I got up all the ones I could, but there are minute slivers in nooks, crannies and plants there - that I'm hoping won't hurt any chicken that decides to test for edibility. Those inside didn't slice through skin, leather, book covers, wooden floor or anything else, so I'm thinking it must have been treated with something to make it not dangerous in such circumstances. Which would make sense for domestic windows at ground level.
Glad to seeSome pictures from the last few days.
Fret is broody. Tull is very empathetic and sort of does the broody thing with Fret including making chick calls sometimes when she finds something nice. It's a bit of a problem under the keeping circumstances. It's not like I can take her home and keep her at the flat until the hormone rage passes.

that's as good an excuse as I need to post this (probably not for the first time, but as Shad likes a bit of dance, I hope he approves)I'd never heard of them, but their bass player later became Fatboy Slim.
Kind of enjoyed that…in a creepy liminal space feeling kind of way.that's as good an excuse as I need to post this (probably not for the first time, but as Shad likes a bit of dance, I hope he approves)
