Your Speckled Sussex will look different once her adult plumage comes in.

I can't wait!

I see that Esther's legs are yellow (both ages.) Tessa has pink-white legs, like the Buff Orpington's. Is this common in hatchery birds? b/c otherwise, she does look like a SS.

Esther has yellow skin/shanks, which is a fault, so I won't use her for breeding. But she's a sweetie, and lays eggs.

The legs are supposed to be "white". Some of the chicks I've hatched have legs that look yellow, but that are proper color once they're adults.

Joanna (right) has the proper color legs. Cockerel on left didn't, so he went to auction.

They're all beautiful. I hope it didn't sound like I was criticizing! just speaking from my usual confusion.

No, and I didn't take it that way. I'm not a breeder, just a person who wants to help keep up the standard in my bantams. I was told by a SS judge and breeder that the bantam variety of SS is very hard to get to its standard.

This is one of her own birds:

:love:woot:)

Isn't she GORGEOUS? Look at how the white tips line up.
