Shadrach's Lamps

Will it bring you joy? Doing something for love & pleasure is often very different to doing it on a more commercial basis. Much as I love your work I'd hate it to turn into drudgery in an effort to meet demand. :hugs
Excellent point. There is a lovely person on BYC that quilts for fun and relaxation then gives them away. Said both of those would be gone if she were making them for sale.

Far right is the slate dust with a piece of slate I file the dust off.
Sheesh, even make your own slate dust. You are amazing.

Well, some people do that coordinated bit..............
I am still reading... We have lots & lots of different timbers here. *Blending* would not be an issue... :p This sort of art work are feature pieces & not meant to *blend*. They are meant to stand out & shine & be admired.

OK, I've now read through the thread and looked at all the pictures. All I can say is :
:th:bow

On the last piece I actually like it better with the "flaw" repaired. Not sure just why but somehow the visual balance has changed. I could never dream up or "see" those shapes in the wood. The best I can do is appreciate the grain and color changes as I plane/sand rough wood ... with power tools.
I prefer the lamp with the second insert. I left the two inset unconnected at first but it didn't look right. I'm happy enough with it now. A black base might be a better option.
Thanks for looking through them. I'm going to post a few pictures given I'm having a bit of a creative burst. A shame really because I doubt there will be any fairs this year.

If it's the person I'm thinking of she does some lovely work. If she was local to me I would be trying for a swap.:D

You wouldn't beleive how often I've heard "It's lovely but it just wouldn't go with the furniture" or similar. The big lamps are rather off base.

Well, you'll have lots of stock for when the fairs start again Shad.

It would be a pity not to take advantage of your creative burst.

Well, I think the people saying that are quite mad & have no real idea about art or design or anything really. I mean, seriously, who wants bland? Though I have a child or 2 that way inclined. They did not get it from me! :gig
