Shadrach's Lamps

Pics
Assembled and soak testing. The shade is not part of the lamp. It's just what I use when I test.

I've been busy. I tend to make a group of lamps when I'm feeling creative. I have a stripped stock pile of pieces of wood. The stripping of bark and cleaning up has to be done outside and it's proven more effective to do a batch in one hit. This allows me to see things like major faults, woodworm etc that are easily missed when the bark if still on and the pith underneath.
I've got five on the go at the moment. Two are waiting for electrics now.
The two in the pictures below I'll post as they progress.

I'm rather fond of boiled eggs with Marmite toast soldiers.
For some unknown reason the people who design and produce egg cups all seen to come up with round tottery things that fall over at the slightest provocation. They also insist on making a half cup. Anyone who has chickens knows eggs come in all shapes and sizes.
I have bantams here and their eggs just rattle about in the usual style egg cup so I invented something more practical.
This has worked really well for most size eggs I get here. It worked so well in fact that I made my elder sister a set in dark oak. The one in the picture is Beech.

That's not an egg cup Shad, that's an egg pedestal! :love Now those would be easier to post than a lamp 🤔. So when are you setting up your on-line store? ;)

I love admiring your woodwork. Those new bases are gorgeous and oh so tactile. I wish I could perch behind you and watch you work but I expect I'd be distracting. 🤪

You would fall asleep or die of boredom.
Most of it is really tedious. The first few cuts can be a bit interesting but all the rest happens very slowly. Hours of sanding.
