Shaking/tremors in a 6 week old Australorp.

So—we got 30 new chicks from Murray McMurray at the end of August and had them immunized against Merck’s and coccidiosis and we have been giving them broiler booster all along. However, one of the australorps started having shaking/tremors a few days ago. We separated her from the rest and she is calm on her own, but if I get near her to inspect her, she shakes...she is eating and drinking fine, and the rest of the flock are doing just fine. I’m wondering if any of you have you ever seen any thing like thIs? She isn’t going in circles or star gazing.

Keep her separate from the flock for now. Give her food and water, and I would put some electrolytes and Vitamin B complex. In her water. (I use Save-A-Chick packets from TSC but there are several brands.) For vitamin B you can buy liquid form at TSC too. A lot of folks like Nutri-Drench.
watch her to see if it improves or not. And check her poops.

Does it appear as though she is shivering and afraid while she is held? I had a bantam hen who shivered when I picked her up, but who was fine otherwise. The layer boost has electrolytes and vitamins, so you may want to stop it for now. Electrolytes are not good to give for more than 5 days. But there are other vitamins that do not have electrolytes. B complex tablets for humans are good, and can be crushed into food or a little water and spread on food.

So—-last night and today it seems more like she can’t stand up well...when I take her out and had her stand on the mat at the entrance to the garage, she spread her legs out wide and won’t stand up. She is still shakes a little when I get close or hold her. Her feet look fine and joints all move well.
