Shame on Ellen

If you can't handle the fact that your dog is a descendent of the wolf and a carnivore, then you should have a pet goat instead of a dog.

Thats why I feed a prey model raw diet. Raw meat, bones and organs only. Dogs, on average digest only about 35-40% of kibble, vs. about 98% of raw meat. That says something.

Agreed. I feed my dogs the most raw I can give them too, most of it from our own livestock/poultry.

Now on the snake sausages bit, really? Wow. When we had Corn Snakes we fed them mice, but if they were too small or young we fed them frozen/thawed pinkies and wiggled them to get the snakes interested.

But honestly we had a couple very large Pythons before too, and they got the real deal. Live bunnies and large rats. I honestly hated the sound of the action, and those rats especially were such sweeties (once had some pets before) but hey, nature is nature. It's best that happen then they eat some sort of pelletized grain-filled product.

Nutrish just 6 only has 20% protein on the label and in reality is probably lower due to water content. This does not give Rachel Ray's dog food more than 2 stars on dogfoodanalysis.com

I generally feed a raw prey model diet but if kibble is the only option I look for 40% protein or more . No less.

rachel ray makes amazing dog food. we feed all of our dogs the nutrish just 6 formula and they are all doing amazing on it. they are doing much better than they were on the blue buffalo!

just cuz a celebrity makes a dog food doesnt mean its junk..

the nutrish just 6 has no corn wheat or soy. its amazing.

but yes dogs arent vegans, they need meat, its the corn and wheat that causes problems mostly. some dogs dont do well on chicken either

Her lamb just 6 formula has these as the first two ingredients: rice flour, rice bran. Useless ingredients. I'm not sure about the other formulas, but I'm sure they are the same. Lamb was the third ingredient (which is cooked so it has nothing to it) followed by corn oil then salt.

Where are any other ingredients that will actually give nutrition? Whatever may be there and not listed falls way behind rice flour and rice bran.

I don't mean to be rude, but you may want to look into a more quality kibble.

Sorry! I meant this and your post as an example for the OP, not you eyeheartquail!

I understood it.

The ingredient label I read actually had lamb meal as the first ingredient. I am sure each individual type of food from Rachel Ray's line, beef, lamb, etc. has different ingredients but like I had already said it is STILL lacking. And I completely agree with you.

Wow. It actually happened. You can buy it online--for the crazy price of $15 for 4 lbs of dry, meatless kibble. How can a product with no meat be so expensive?!

DogFoodAdvisor.com rates it very poorly: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/halo-vegan-garden-medley/

Rachel Ray and her made-up words bug the bejeezuz out of me. That and how she can turn making a sandwich into a half-hour-long project.

I feed grain-free Taste of the Wild and hard-boiled eggs. HUGE improvement in skin, coats and weight.
