Oh, LowClassCC, you beat me to the punch!

Here is one of our "farm dogs"

Pew is a hairless tricolor Chinese Crested. She sleeps for about 15 hours a day, so isn't much use with the "farm dogging"

Then there is:

Digit is a Pug cross what we think is Brussels Griffon. She is more amused by our chooks than Pew.

They are both good girls (most of the time):

With one of the feral kitten litters I took in:

And as much as they are suburban farm dogs:

Last time I took them up to The Hundred Acres Farm in Murchison, Australia, they tore around the property like mad things.
While we are there, we hunt kangaroos and it was hilarious seeing Digit try to tear a flap of meat off a roo's belly!

Glenmar, I have no idea what my pug cross is crossed with (shelter said brussels griffon)

After seeing your Norfolk Terrier... wow! What do YOU think?

I love the picture of the Bull Terrier with the lamb. That is just so sweet. Reminds me of the peaceful kingdom passage in Isaiah 11. If I were in New Zealand I'd be begging you for a pup

As I'm in KY - Hello CHICKMOM - where did you get your Irish Terrier?

I need a good dog that will serve as a deterrent to predators but not make chew toys of my poultry. I spent a small fortune on an English Shepherd pup that was not quite the dog I hoped he'd be. I tried various ways to convince him to leave the birds alone but had no luck. After he killed a hen and ripped her crop open to get at the feed inside (he liked the chicken feed) I sold him at an almost total loss to a family with two little girls but no chickens. I am now a little "gun shy". But I would really like to have a couple of good dogs on the place - if anyone in the KY area knows of a chicken safe pup or dog that is available please feel free to let me know.

This is Libby. She really was a farm dog. She lived on a cattle ranch of several hundred acres in Kansas. Trouble was, she has a taste for chicken ... on the hoof.

She is a black and tan English shepherd.

This is Sarge...I was his 4th owner when I got him at 2 years old. Turned out to be THE BEST dog I have ever had...RIP Sarge!

Here he is thinking that he has a giant frisbee!

Here is Elliot. She was supposed to be my new stock dog. Unfortunately she is nearly blind. Her eyes are permanently dilated...she is a great dog though. I am still searching...

THese two are "joined at the hip" what one does the other does better...the Parson's Russell (Valentine)...DONT get one of those as a farm dog...chicken killer deluxe! BC is Magic; as a pup she could get out of anything!

I have two other dogs too; an elderly Rat Terrier that couldnt care less what goes on around him and another BC that is a good dog...guard wise but not herding wise!
I love this thread...so fun to see what others have on their places! TErri O

I love all the dogs!!! They are all so wonderful! here are a couple of my girls. They are American Bulldogs. The brindle and white is my Maggie May, she is great dog. She loves the kids, ignores the chickens and keeps out the strays! The other fawn and white is Mya. She will play fetch with any one, but you better hope she stops when she brings it back!

She gaurds the yard, and is good with the chickens. Both do well with all the critters on the farm. I just love them!
