Silkie's are very winter hardy actually. I've been raising them/breeding them for years.

We had to order our Meyer chicks back in November and still missed our preferred dates, they sold out FAST. April was the earliest available
I didn't have the money then, I always order January, or February for spring chicks. Didn't work out this year.

What did you order?

Oh, good to know. I may look into them next year. I can't resist chicks with lots of fluff or big fat heavies. Even my dogs are huge!

You're welcome.

Silkies can tolerate temperatures that are below zero. Had a crazy rooster that slept out on the outside roost in -20°F night time weather.

I've ordered from a local breeder (seriously only 10 minutes away) and I've got

5 Ameracauna, "surprise me" for a mix of Blue/Black/Splash
2 Lavender English Orpingtons.

They won't be here until April but I'm so excited!
I've been wanting some Niederrheiner birds from McMurray but they're so hard to get, even straight run.
