Hey blessed! Yes ma'am turkeys....I have a royal palm hen and a BB Chocolate hen and a standard bronze tom....We hatched a few last year that turned out pretty big.. An older couple bought a jake from us last year..thinking they were going to eat him for Christmas....they came by the other day to buy some more guineas and laying hens...and told us that the jake was too sweet to kill...hahaha (a quick story of this jake....last year...our mallard hen hatched him...of course it was too cold to stay out...and this was before we had all the setups we do now...so Greg brought him in the house...would rock him (have pics somewhere of this) and named him Survivor...lol )

The ducks and turkeys will stay in the bator as the chicken eggs hatch...they have to stay another week....

Glad your daughter is improving...still sending prayers that it will get better!

Gee, your chicks sound just like my chicks! A yellow and a very dark blue maybe? Heather said that the one in my litter(?) that looks black will most likely turn real dark blue. All the others except the 'black' have a lovely goldy-red tinge to them.

Royal Palm turkeys are just gorgeous. If I could have turkeys that is the kind I would get!

Sending positive vibes your way blessed.

Anything that makes your child's life easier and less painful is a wonderful thing. Have you heard how your 2 grand-chickies are doing?

QUESTION
Are silkies a little slow to hatch? That little silkie that pipped made his pip hole a little bigger. I can see his beak and he is chirping away, but so far just hanging out in his egg. Its been 24 hours.

The grand chickies are doing great so far I'm told. They say they are pecking an establishing an order, but their world is about to be turned upside down if our chicks hatch on Sunday/Monday!

Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it all.

ETA: I am by no means an expert having only hatched 1 (yes, 1) silkie so far, but she was the quickest after pip of all of mine.

I know folks say this is a no-no, but I think I'd intervene just a tiny bit to see if there's any blood. I had one that died (EE) about 5 or 6 hours after pip though it was trying like heck to get out. Membrane turned a tan color and stuck to it. When I opened the egg, I think the head was in a funny position and it couldn't get out, and the membrane dried out after it made a large hole, but not really a zip. I saw toes out the hole. Now I know that shouldn't happen. Then, it was my first time. Anyway, that chick was fully formed, yolk absorbed, and tried valiantly to get out. When the breath signs stopped, I yanked it out, but it was too late. I guess it a judgement call.
