MG synoviae can cause total lameness like you are talking about. I read in one article that sometimes the infection can get into the bones of the skull and cause neurological symptoms that can be confused with other illnesses. Wouldn't the 2 illnesses you mentioned affect more chickens, faster? Marek's happens in chicks, only, correct?
Do you think blasting them all with Sulmet and Duramycin and then spraying everything with Oxine, even the ground, would help? Would it hurt?
She's acting normal right now! I gave them all a treat and she just dug in! Applesauce with Layena. EEE is gotten by mosquito, , not by chicken to chicken, I think. And there's been outbreaks all over Florida, and 2 people died in Tampa.
There is mentioned more and more about latent Marek's. That might be a new designer virus. I read that 6 months was prime time to get regular Marek's. It may only happen to those who are severely stressed by the heat.
Speaking of heat, it might even be heat stroke/stress. All it takes here is not drinking enough water. My little Minniemouse (mom) couldn't walk for a day after I revived her from a heat stroke. She was laying flat out. Tough little thing.
I'll have to look up MG.
If she is better, and stays that way, it would be great. Otherwise, I think only illness progression will narrow it down.
How are yours doing in this heat?
