Once we get there, most definitely!

We sent chilled semen one time. For ever ever after, that dog could identify that vet from a block away and go yoo-hoo! Sweety!

The vet was a big woman, and he generalized his love to big women! The bigger and fatter the better! Fat women loved that dog!

I never told them why, though.

appt on thursday but more bloodwork before that.
feeling pretty good today, increased my iron and I think that's helping. people are commenting that Im not as pale as I was

Vampires! My endocrinologist has a big sign on his blood draw room with Bela Lugosi on it.

They must be nearing a pint on you by now. Good thing you aren't looking as pale. You still just going to the hematologist and not a gastroenterologist? Have you swallowed a camera, yet?

I don't understand why they take so much blood from you when you're already compromised-without doing a transfusion.
Usually people that have internal bleeding have black tarry stools. Usually.
I'm glad you were noticed not to be as pale!

MG synoviae can cause total lameness like you are talking about. I read in one article that sometimes the infection can get into the bones of the skull and cause neurological symptoms that can be confused with other illnesses. Wouldn't the 2 illnesses you mentioned affect more chickens, faster? Marek's happens in chicks, only, correct?

Do you think blasting them all with Sulmet and Duramycin and then spraying everything with Oxine, even the ground, would help? Would it hurt?

She's acting normal right now! I gave them all a treat and she just dug in! Applesauce with Layena. EEE is gotten by mosquito, , not by chicken to chicken, I think. And there's been outbreaks all over Florida, and 2 people died in Tampa.
There is mentioned more and more about latent Marek's. That might be a new designer virus. I read that 6 months was prime time to get regular Marek's. It may only happen to those who are severely stressed by the heat.

Speaking of heat, it might even be heat stroke/stress. All it takes here is not drinking enough water. My little Minniemouse (mom) couldn't walk for a day after I revived her from a heat stroke. She was laying flat out. Tough little thing.

I'll have to look up MG.

If she is better, and stays that way, it would be great. Otherwise, I think only illness progression will narrow it down.

How are yours doing in this heat?

My roo last year had all the classic symptoms, foot forward foot back, one gray pupil, the paralysis progressed upward, had no control over his neck, couldn't aim for his food. The necropsy done on my roo by the vet showed no tumors, but the neuro one doesn't always show tumors. My vet's guess was EEE, but then I would have thought he would have had it confirmed because it is reportable.

His first symptoms were not walking, not balancing, he was eager to eat and drink, but couldn't eat enough. He still crowed and responded like he wanted to get up. He was put on my patio in a dog cage under my window. I was really upset for a long time with him because as a chick, he would come sit on my hand, then he got older and was attacking me. I did my behavior modification, and he was very sweet after that. He was my cuddly one.

My information on this (& I may be wrong) is Mareks and Lymphoid leukosis both cause similar symptoms with "tumors" developing and pressing on nerves. Both diseases I believe are spread in dander. If not vaccinated most chicks will be exposed to it but only a few are susceptible and get symptoms. Good and bad because the chicks without clinical disease can still pass them on, and it is tough to eradicate.

DAK where are you???

You're not wrong, Phage.

Mine are totally stressed. They have all gone into molt and just pant their little hearts out. We got them a high output fan. I give them big pans of icewater and they stand in it - and the ice hasn't even melted! I give them frozen watermelon, blueberries and grapes. They have been just so miserable, and forget about eggs.

Fortunately the last few days has only been up to the low 90s, but the humidity makes it feel hotter!

I just had one that had classic mareks or I should say classic LATENT mareks symptoms. I took him to the vet due to no eye issues, no feed issues although he was losing weiht regardless of having food available 24/7 he turned out to have a very large sacral internal cyst that was caused by ecoli which is prevelant all over chicken yards because of the poo. One small injury can cause it. Have you tried treating him with antibiotics? I mean something strong like Baytril in lieu of say duramycin as it's a little more broad spectrum. I may have been able to save him if I had given antibiotics a go. I just assumed nutritional and then mareks so... ah well. Got to love avian medicine where every disease looks like every other disease
