phage, I'm sorry about the coon- I hate those rotten predators.

I had an "OMG" moment this morning. while talking with a freind regarding my health issues, she told me of a friend that got iron def. anemia from pouring ceramics something to do with the clay. I have been using type s mortor mix to make my stained glass stones and I've been making mostly them in the last 6 months. there is only one warning on the bag, do not inhale, causes lung problems. well the list of ingredients it contains portland cement and a quick search, portland cement is high in lead content. this might just be my problem as lead poisoning can cause most of my symptoms. I've called the dr and they are adding it to my weekly bloodwork. I can't believe with all the bloodwork done, it this could be the answer.

Day 21. The only consistent thing about my incubator is timing of the hatch. They either hatch on time, are shrink wrapped, or are dead. Glad I didn't wait on that last one. It is still tentative if the second will be ok. I should know by tomorrow. The first is perky. At least the two that made it are the right color. You should have your own special eggs soon, and you better post your own pics!

Very same here.

I have been having best luck with my brinsea mini eco advanced with the auto turner, but it only holds 7 eggs. Also have an octagon eco 20 that I turn myself, and have had some really good hatches in it too, and some total failures. Nat's and gump's had wonderful hatches in it. In the mini I can interfere more and have actually helped a lot of chicks out, because it is so small and easy to increase the humidity with a wet paper towel. I don't have a humidity monitor and they do tend to shrink wrap, even following the directions brinsea gives you.

I think most of my hatching luck depends on how the box is treated by the PO and the health of the parent flock and eggs. I have had 24 + eggs in the eco 20, put in at the same time, and one batch from a seller will have a 90% hatch and another batch of eggs from another seller put in at the same time will have a 20 % or less hatch. All treated the same (by me) and all put in at the same time in the same incubator. Has to be the PO or egg health, don't you think? Need opinions on this, if anyone has one.

Patience, persistence and consistence conquers all in training a dog. Sounds like they haven't been any of them, with the couch thing. Dogs will ALWAYS remember the one time you let them get away with something, and will therefore keep trying, just in case you let them get away with it again. Bad training.

I also think the breed is involved. The Ameraucanas have done by far the best for me. Cochins and Brahmas not as well.

My two little Brahmas are doing well. I'll try to get pics this evening when they're fluffed up a little more.

Brindle, I think the PO influences the intitial number that starts to develop and air sacs, but after that incubator conditions and genetics and flock health.

lovins,
don't feel bad. I told the dr about my hobby but in the last 6 months I have made mostly stones and not lead solder so I didn't think that could do it and apparently neither did they but we will find out on monday!
the treatment is chelation. not sure just what that involves, either iv or by mouth I'm sure and from what I here, it's a long treatment as it keeps leaching out of the bones, which is a new sympton, my bones hurt (not the joints) like my ribs and long bones and my hair is thinning- oh joy- I've always had really thick hair so this has been disturbing.
