You have to take goose eggs out of the incubator, mist them and let them cool for 15 minutes a day, I did 45 minutes last night

Why is that with geese?

Something about imitating the momma goose leaving for a swim and coming back... I think? This is my first goose hatch, so I'm following ShelleyD2008's instructions https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=15806

I don't think the eggs are very hardy. Out of 9 I got 2, gave them to Nava. Nava had multiple BLRW eggs from different members and did not do well either. Personally I think large mutts travel the best. I hope those SLB's ship well, LOL

My little silver chick just died. Poor thing. I checked, and it truly had no eye slits. Poor thing. But I am so glad I did not have to cull it.

So, so far 6 are out, (counting the one that just died), one is zipping, and too many pips to count right now. Still waiting on my lavender sizzle to hatch. No pip on that egg yet. I know it's lavender b/c the egg is marked. Come on babies!

Yeah, I've noticed that not many folks have much luck with the BLRW's on this thread. With all these experienced hatchers I would think it's probably something with the breed. The eggs came from too many places, to many different bators, etc. for me to think otherwise.

Sorry Blessed. One of my JG's hatched with a mutilated eye, turns out he's the sweetest roo, and DH is getting attached which is good because he was so attached to the roo our dog killed. I'm kinda glad that your chick died on his own.

So you all got me worried, so I locked myself in a pitch black closet with the eggs to candle and really stared at them. And I was able to see movement in all 10, but some where very full, and there wasn't a lot of movement. So I am going to

and leave them alone until they hatch. This is far from my first hatch, I have hatched hundreds of chicks, but i find myself checking on them a lot like I did on my first ever hatch, LOL.

here is a quasi update, I added some new eggs and listed them but didn't count how many of the other breeds were in the bators that quit. Will have to update that next time

I would not remove any chicks until the first one is about 48 hours old. I feel that then it will be looking for food, although they can go 3-5 days without food or water. If there are eggs still in there, I usually do the naughty thing and remove the chicks if the late ones are taking a long time.

LOL, if this was to me I'm sorry. I am a bit of a scatterbrain and think one thing but say/write something different. I meant do we remove the completed hatches from our updates
