LOL BLR cochins? Yah I wish... I have BLRW's but they are from some of the best lines.

I wonder how many generations of breeding that would take!!??!?! They would be so CUTE!!!

Have you cochin lovers been monitoring the lav cochin thread? Cochinman 2005 (Tom Roebuck) pres. of cochins international, is working on these with the plan of getting them accepted. He is on his f4 generation and thinking of exhibiting them in Indy next year. The are beautiful and easier to improve by crossing to black. I'm toying with the idea of these next year.

I've been in touch with Tom to get a couple of partridge and maybe barred in early spring. He breeds some nice balls of cochin doesn't he!!!

Yup. You should send him pics of your partridge for his opinion. He will be brutally honest.

Done and he and I are in agreement. Tom has a good hen line and Jamie has a good roo line. That's why I want some of Tom's, his are a little more rounded which I like, may make for breeding issues, UGH AI, never had to do that, hope I don't have to. Notice in the picture I posted the roo has GREAT color, but he's a little too big. The hen is a good size, but her color isn't as nice. I have three pullets as well and two of them are okay (much better than a lot I have seen) and one has very good color and is compact. I plan on hatching some chicks from her and the roo together. I have my fingers crossed that Tom is going to sell me a started pair, he told me to get back with him in January. Which I have marked on my calender, as not to forget! I would love to get my hands on a really nice barred roo to breed to the partridge hens as well for a crele project...have you seen that thread as well?

That would probably be a good start, work towards type and color without diluting the red too much... hmmmm great now you have my gears turning

ooops my bad LF BLRW! I did have a chance to buy the cochin trio about 4 months ago-and lost contact with seller-40$ for a gorgeous trio but it was a 10 drive round trip too much for me-I was trying to see if anyone was heading that way or not and it all just got forgotten about:-(
