Yes i have been hands off with the ones who have internally pipped and have safeholes. They are lively and i have high hopes that they may be able to pip on their own, although none did with my last hatch (same parents). I have only been assisting the malpositioned ones, which i have been right about both times. The first one died very quickly and it was odd, the second one i helped is breathing fine with the pip i made for it, but i was concerned about the yolk color, which i can see from the aircell end is green. I have no plans on assisting further today.
I did not know that about first year layers, though i can understand why; ive gotten a few funky eggs from them. I knew about the zip and suffocate thing though.
Thank you for all the good advice. The one with the underdeveloped CAM didnt make it, and it was upside-down as well.
