Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

Id never even seen a live brahma until i met the girl who gave me the eggs im hatching but ive drooled over many pics of em...:lau
Most everyone who has them says great things about their temperament so im hopefull! :D

I've only had 2 brahma roosters, no hens. They were both flock masters with my comet girls.
Big Guy was a dark, Moonshine was the light. Great boys. Moonshine had a tendency to charge me, until i broke a tree branch across his chest.

Hope yall don't mind adding a chicken pic to the thread. lol

:love

I hate to spoil the fun here. . but I found Janes little gray duckling dead this morning :(
No idea what happened. It was laying by the waterer (it's a chic waterer the jar kind) and was soaking wet. Don't know if it died there first and the others just got it wet drinking or if it got in the other water pan and got too wet. It's a shallow pan with rocks in it so Jane can clean her bill. I used it Last year without issue so I don't know. They were zipping in and out of it yesterday. :idunno I added some more rocks just in case.
What a bummer.

Dang, just catching up here and seeing this. I'm so sorry. :hugs

The roo it came from is a blue partridge and the hens either blue partridge or gold partridge ... not 100% sure.
Hes fluffed up a bit more so not quite so moldy looking..:lau

No bad smell and not shipped. They came from the girl i got the brahma eggs from... i did get a pic but dont know how to "spoiler alert" and its pretty gross..

I always found my silkie eggs incubated a little different than others. Their shells were really glossy and needed lower humidity than everything else.
Sorry you lost them. :hugs

Fist two babies :)

Now I just have to hope none of the others need to hatch before I get home from work.

Sexy boys! I hope i end up with at least a trio. i have more brahma eggs in the bator now. :fl

Ok... i had no idea. Thank you! :hugs
This hatch has just been awful :barnie
The last brahma to hatch has taken all day to perk up and still isnt as perky as youd expect after hatching around 8 this morning.:hmm
My co-op eggs! :thi dont even want to talk about it.:(

Good grief! What's going on??
:barnie
Don't know. Maybe incomplete cam? Not sure with the size of these eggs in the Turner if maybe they aren't getting turned completely? I think tomorrow I'll throw out all the bad eggs and take out the Turner and hand turning for the rest of the time.

Not saying that's what happened with your silkies, just pointing out my experience with them.
Hope your little one perks up.
And ok, I won't ask about the other eggs. :hugs
