Huh... slipped tendon maybe? Just guessing. :idunno :hugs
That's one thing I wondered about too. My call duck book recommends culling for birds that. "Easily goes off their legs" says a slipped tendon can rarely be fixed. :(

Its almost like the joint didn't set properly, or got twisted out of joint somewhere along the way. I don't know much about duck leg tendons, but it could be torn, or just out of whack.
That "knee" joint looks swollen doesn't it. Wonder if one problem has led to another here..
I keep thinking it won't walk again every time I see it go down. Then it stands up again and acts ok. :idunno

:( im sorry.
I hope its fixable..:fl

I am so behind here... but im gonna get a nap and then catch up.. I'll see ya in a bit..:frow

Actually, I would think if the tendon was slipped, it wouldn’t just pop back into place without help, and he would always limp on it or not be able to use it at all. Maybe it’s just bruised and might heal with some time.

Would you consider putting him in a sling chair? Maybe suspend the sling over water, so he can paddle and strengthen it, but not put weight on it.

It definitely does look swollen at the joint. Is it hot to the touch? I think you should try keeping him off the leg for awhile, if you can.

It didn't feel hot to me yesterday. Haven't gotten him out yet today. He did get around a bit better yesterday. . the day prior when I let him swim he couldn't walk again after for a while. I would consider the sling. . .but I have no idea how I would keep him in it. I've got him in my kennel cage where all He can really do is take a couple steps and turn around. But he does pace a lot. :hmm
Then when I try to get him out he bashes himself against the bars like a psycho.

He won't like it, but you could wrap the leg in vet wrap and then also wrap the vet wrap around his body to pin it up to his stomach so he can't use it. Then he'd have to be in the kennel because of course he definitely couldn't get around well like that. But it would keep the leg immobilized and give it time to heal if it is an injury.

Here’s the one (there are actually 2, almost identical twins) I was wondering about pastel pied. The color does not come out in pics, the first pic looks much darker than she is (the ling in the middle), but I keep trying. :(

She's really pretty!
You didn't break it! All is well here. Although my goose with angel wing isn't fixing despite days of wrapping.

Here's a duck awkwardly changing into boy colors.

This zoo had tons of ducks on a big pond, mostly Calls and mallards. This little drake for some reason was in an enclosed aviary for exotic ducks and pheasants instead of on the pond.

These are what I was trying to get a photo of:

White-faced whistling ducks. They were neat! Small little guys, though a little bigger than Calls. They also had teals, but they wouldn't pose for a picture.
:lau i love the photo bombing call!
Those are really cool ducks!! :love

Now that might be doable. I could also put him in my new critter keeper tote maybe he would be more calm in there and less room to try to pace around since its round. :hmm
Wonder about trying some type of anti inflammatory like children's ibuprofen since we have recently heard it is safe for birds.
