She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

We don't get trick or treaters either. I buy a bag of candy bars (just in case), but we're too far out of town. I like it that way. I get to eat the candy....lol There's only a couple candy bars that my son actually likes (Hershey's plain choco and Milky ways oh and M&Ms) everything else is fair game for mommy....lol
Sounds like it used to be when our two were small. Mom would have to hide the cookies from me, or the kids were lucky to get crumbs. Still have Cookie Monster from Sesame Street on my dresser.

If I were you, I'd put that brooder lamp back in moth balls and go buy a Sunbeam XPress extra large heating pad and do a HP brooder cave.  You'll have chicks that are much happier!  You'll be happier too.
Did you really mean out of the incubator for up to 2 weeks?  More info please.

Yes I did. I'm not sure if I'll be able to find the research paper again, but it's based on chicken behavior.

If a broody sits for less than a week, as long as there are 2 hens that warm the eggs and lay in the nest daily, the eggs remain viable for 2-3 weeks. If another broody comes and sits for 2 weeks the ones that were first incubated all hatch.

Do people in your area take their dogs trick or treating too???

Oh yes!!! I live on an island where we have a huge celebration. They shut downn bluff Dr and all the kids come to the street to trick or treat at the multimillion dollar houses. My house gets only a few kids we know. Once we see the last kids....we head out down the street ourselves!!! Lol!!!

You got to do it now! I can't wait for pics!

We have already been sketching designs and coming up with ideas....I need to get busy!!!

Kids don't trick or treat right around here. Been in this house 42 years; next trick or treater will be the first. We're in an area with lots of farms and hills; our lane is 600'+, and it's DARK! Can't see the house from the road...too many trees. No salesmen much, either. Love it!

See that's nice but...I do like living with fairly close neighbors.....they may not like me because of my roosters but...oh well!!

No trick or treaters here either... we're 12 miles from a very, very small town... and down several windy roads, gravel roads, etc... if we buy candy it's for us, lol... :D ;)

I lived in one place where I got hundreds, maybe a thousand, trick or treaters. It was where they came to from miles around, to walk our city blocks! Next house, zero. Now... zero! I buy for the neighbors grandkids. That's it.

Only that many? Then I'd just leave the turner on and don't stress over it...

yeah don't stress over it my eggs are not shipped there from our hens and I'm glad there developing . wasn't sure the GLW rooster was getting it done and wanted to hatch some GLWs. haven't seen him cover a hen yet. But now I know he is .Have six eggs in the incubator and all are developing . so now I'll have either a GLW SLW cross or a GLW BSL cross or some GLWs like I said the thrill of the hatch pushes common sense aside sometimes .

so we'll see what happens .maybe it will and maybe it won't . maybe it will be fried chicken or maybe it will be roast chicken just as long as its a chicken I can eat it .

We used to get lots of trick or treaters when I lived in CA. We were only a block away from an elementary school so we would decorate our courtyard and go through lots of candy.

Now I live on a dirt road without streetlights, so we probably won't get any. Should probably get candy just in case, LOL

Yes. It's definitely quieter around here. We'll see if Jack crows more with Koritsa gone. (Hope not!) How's the baby? (The human one.)
He got his first tooth!!! :jumpy (I told my mom and since she's so used to my chicken talk, she said "he pipped"! Lol
So I HAVE to share a pic that has nothing to do with chickens. My son has gotten into Godzilla and King Kong and all that and decided he wanted to be Godzilla for Halloween this year. I let him pick his costume and we ordered it Tuesday. It got here today so we had to try it on and check it out and make sure everything worked. So funny watching him walk around in it. I love it. Now he can't wait until Halloween.
That's him??!! Seriously cool!!
Ruby and should dress up as hen and dress the littles as baby chicks....that would be so funny!
That would be too cute! Maybe me and the baby but the kids are a few years older then my avatar pic and that would so not be "cool"! Amy, quick question, how soon do you move them to the brooder after hatch? Like 30 mins, an hour, right away??
@BYC910 :frow I see you over there!!!! Had to say hi, cause I'm on my way out and by the time you post I'll probably be gone....
I thought this was WV's post...sorry (I'm so tired from no sleep, Amy I think you have family coming too, enjoy))@WVduckchick Have a great weekend! Enjoy the family!

Will do! You too! Your ears must have been burning earlier. I was telling my SIL about your ordeal. She loves silkies, said she wants to do more in the spring. So I showed her Magnolias too, but didn't recommend she order them! Haha!
