She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

It could be that he is just a greedy little s**t, lol... or it could be that he is telling them it is not safe for them to eat from your hands... or it even could be that he is saying no to them because he didn't give permission... hard to tell exactly without seeing all the "little tells"... staring directly in the eye is a direct challenge, but the one to watch for is when he turns sideways and seems to become preoccupied with grass or something on the ground, but really he is watching you out of the one eye facing you... this is the indirect challenge and where he is waiting for the right time to directly challenge...

Our rooster did the sideways.. preoccupied.. watch and then when we past by he would come at us from behind.  He's not with us anymore:)

Yes guys, this is what my guy is doing! He looks at me out of the corner of his eye, then does this sideways shuffle, and then goes for my leg/foot to bite me! To do laundry, I have to walk out my back door and around back, to get into the basement. He watches me go down there and then waits for me to come up, so he can do his shuffle and go after me! I have the squirt gun on me at all times and when he goes in for the bite, I squirt him 2-3 times and he backs a few feet up and doesn't come back at me. I'm trying to pick him up and carry him around with me as much as possible. He has no problem with me picking him up at night to put him in the coop. It's just during the day.

None of that talk about rooster behavior would have made sense to me if I didn't have Big Guy. After watching how he takes care of his girls, and how he has acted toward us, everything Ravyn says makes sense. He is a wonderful flock protector. He will not eat treats until all the girls have some first. He calls to them when one gets out of sight. He did have his moments of testing DH and I, but I think we have settled that, and he knows exactly where he stands. He still watches if I pick up one of the girls, but he knows its ok now. Its actually pretty flockin amazing.

I want a real gentleman like you have!! I hatch enough, so one of these better be a good guy!

My surprise was Silkie eggs!!!! BBS eggs to be exact!!! I sure hope they are fertile!!!!! I can't wait to check neXT Saturday for fertility!!!! My Wicket still has not started laying....she was hatched in late April early May. ...she still may be just a tad bit on the young side. Lol!!!

Silkie Selfie!!!! Lol!!!

On another note....I am watching a 3 way stand off between 3 Robins fighting over the bird bath.

Yup, that's when I hatched my silkies too. Mine are between almost 18-22 weeks. Most silkies are slow to lay, not all but most. Great pic of you both!! Good luck on the eggs!

So here is a picture if my Ogye and Hmong. They are now 8 weeks old. I am so confused as to sex they are.....

Oh. Glad you had a good time.

Amy, IMO (take it from where it comes!) having your eggs on a precise or nearly precise turning schedule doesn't matter much, as long as they get turned at least 3 times/day... and I don't even sweat the 3x rule after day 14. Of course more is better, but... # of hours between turning is of little consequence. If I'm in the kitchen, and have a moment, and think of it, I flip my eggs! That being said, I write everything down, cause it's awful easy for me to forget when I last turned them.
In my case, my hubby often will tell me something, and B/C I suffer from CRS, I often react to the second or third telling, or the actual doing of the event with total surprise!
I don't schedule either. If I get up early they get 5 turns if I get up later, they get 3. And it happens whenever I remember....lol I shoot for morning noonish and evening. Anything else is bonus...

Thank you!!! I hope and pray because of my korean genes that I will look younger than I am...

. Asians usually look young until they are about 50.....then they look like they are 70.....so....I would be okay with that.

I know that feeling. In my younger days, when I had the "bod" and youth, I always looked years younger than I was. At 25yrs people still didn't believe I was over 18. Got carded for everything. Everybody was like you should appreciate it. You'll enjoy it when you get older. Yeah, When I got "older" I woke up one day and all of a sudden looked my age plus a few years...lol

I'm guessing there ain't one of the ladies that regularly hangs out here that looks a day over 25

I'll definitely watch for the preoccupied sideways glance, lol. I just can't decide what he's doing now, lol.

Sounds like the perfect roo. How old is he?

Our boy did it to both me and DH within a matter of a week. I was in the run and he pecked my leg from under the ramp. I had the feed bucket in my hand, so I backed him into the corner with the bucket between us. He hasn't come at me since. DH used your approach

I had the feed bucket in hand one day and jerk reaction I swung at him. The red end of the bucket came flying off and I thought I had decapitated him, lol. He kinda looked dazed for a bit and then shook it off. He stayed his distance for a few days but then started testing me again.

Men in my family suffer this issue with a vengeance!
I really think a lot of men do, lol.

I want a real gentleman like you have!!
Ditto. I just set 40 eggs in the bator. Surely one will come out a gentleman

So here is my daughter's costume without her feathery head piece (still need to make). I should have used a smaller size yarn for the poncho so it would not seem so big. But she loves it!!!!!
