Are freshly layed cloudy eggs fertile and are mercury thermometers the most acuract respond a sap or pm me but quote
What's cloudy? The albumen? You can go to the Learning Center, and read the many articles in Hatching Eggs 101. It will tell you how to look for the "bulls eye" to determine if the egg is fertile. I think the cloudy you're referring to is just an alteration in the albumen. It shouldn't affect your hatch. As Ruby said, you'll need to calibrate any thermometer you choose to use. I use a mercury bulb thermometer, and consider it to be very accurate. The down side of this type is that it takes forever to get a reading, and they're hard to read, and then need to be shaken down. But, I leave one in my bator, as it will give a good "over time" reading to tell me what my bator high temp has been over the last few hours. I calibrate ALL of my thermometers (that can be done this way) in a cup of 100* water, using a digital medical thermometer as my gold standard as they're advertised as +/- .2* accuracy. Are freshly layed cloudy eggs fertile and are mercury thermometers the most acuract respond a sap or pm me but quote
I use an analog meat thermometer, for like barbecuing, and when I calibrated it it was only off by about a half of a degree. I used the ice water calibration method though. Are freshly layed cloudy eggs fertile and are mercury thermometers the most acuract respond a sap or pm me but quote
Woke up this morning to a new fuzzy butt!! That makes 6 so far and there's also another pipper. That leaves 1 egg that hasn't done anything so far. I'll candle that 1 in a little bit since he hasn't done anything yet.
ETA: Just candled and he's still alive. He apparently doesn't want to come out of that egg, lol.
