She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

The two girls should lay green eggs, probably pale green by the look of them.  I'm glad they are tame, that takes a lot of patient handling.  My flock is too big to give each bird that much hands-on time but I hope to change that this year and get away from the production reds entirely.

I am excited for spring. Hopefully the rooster is good to the girls.

His dad is good to the girls (he looks like offspring of the Light Brahma cross), so hopefully he will be too. If he's not...well, there is never a shortage of roosters to select from.

Bubbies appearing in nest box. Need to candle and setup for lockdown in the incubator in the next day or 2

Are both sets due today?

My only experience with s broody was a disaster. Not sure I'll try it again.

All the eggs started under 1 and were divided up when the other went broody, but the others spent more time off the nest so might be a day or 2 later. This is first hatch for each of them, making the 5th and 6th broody hatch at my place. I have 1 who can't get from lockdown to week olds but the others have been good so far. The one that lost all her chicks in thier first week has adopted some others when they were just over 2 weeks and has been doing well with the older chicks. I'll see how these 2 do.

So cute!!

Good luck with the rest, and post more pics when you can!

I forgot what kind of incubator do you have?  (other than the live ones  lol)

A janoel5-60, that I should I have waited for the thermometers to calibrate before setting the eggs. It was 4 f higher than the setting, so I now have 24 eggs going to lockdown from the 56 I started with. Only 2 of the lav ara eggs made it.
