She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

My Silkies will take in any newcomers, no fighting... they just look over like "Dude... where ya been?" :gig

That's exactly how mine are. I used to make a big fuss about "integrating" new ones, I'd set up a screen wall, section off the run but it was totally unnecessary! Now I just put the new ones in the run and no one even notices, they just have instant acceptance.

I want some of her paints, lol...

Ravyn, I just hatched my first batch of paints and I am thrilled! The chicks are beautiful. Big vaulted skulls, and big black patches. Seriously, a few of them look great (for chicks), I can't wait to see them grow out. I'm so excited. And this was just a test batch.

Still somewhat new to all this Incubating stuff, but I'm loving it so far.... wish I would've seen this post a month ago.... I have a Styrofoam incubator from TSC and first attempt was with 48 eggs... we lost 13 and the rest are starting to hhatch as I type

Congrats on the hatchers! Keep us posted and don't hesitate to ask if you have any issues during hatch.

My first paint chicks that I hatched from my own! I'm very happy with them, so far. So would they be considered F1?

I wish mine integrated that easily.

So awesome. I love them! I can't wait to get eggs from you!!

Thought I'd jump in and say hi! I'm starting my 2nd hatch on Monday after having a 100% failed hatch. This time is going to be MUCH better. After talking with a local about the eggs he set about the same time and how low his hatch rate was (like 5 or so from 3 dozen) He said it could have been the cold snap we got right around when those eggs would have been laid/collected. it was disappointing because we did everything we knew right (and it was in a classroom with 1st-3rd graders!).

So I'm trying again! I got some local barnyard mix eggs from someone, and I got a Brinsea Mini Advance (on Amazon's warehouse deals so the price wasn't too bad) and I'm taking everything to my daughter's classroom on Monday. I'm hoping the "set it and forget it" method will work nicely in the classroom setting.

I have 3 hens at my house, and they are a year old in the next week or so. Just starting laying again after a winter break and I *love* getting eggs again. I'm hoping to add an EE or Ameraucana, and a Maran to my flock to give myself--I mean, my kids the excitement of a colorful egg carton

The roo that's over the eggs I got is a Maran and I have one pretty dark egg in my mix so I'm hopeful it will hatch beautifully and be a girl!
