I only wait 24-48 hours now and gently tilt the egg by hand at a 45 degree angle. By day 12 the air cells will be solid, even if they are in a weird shape. And can be turned regularly. I let mine rest 12 hours prior to putting them in the incubator.

Good to know. I will go usps next time. I did double box and the eggs were in good shape. I hope she has at least 50% hatch rate.

Well that power outage has done a number on a few of the marans eggs. The ameraucana all hatched day 20, I still have 3 marans eggs in the bator, 2 have pipped. Day 22 started at 4pm today. Never had such a prolonged hatch.

Water should be slightly warmer than the egg, not cooler...

Cooler water can cause bacteria to be sucked through the pores of the shell...

Ok, so I finally got the cake done. Tomorrow when my eyes can stay open there's a couple spots that need to be cleaned up, but here it is. (I skimped on Frogger, that side is not too impressive, but I was shot....lol)

As to why on the water temp... heat causes expansion, pushes outward through shell... cold causes contraction, thus sucking in through the shell... make sense?
