She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Not having fun with these shipped eggs on day 7.  8/18 are still good, the rest were clears or super early quitters. opened them all and most were scrambled.  (6 BWA and 2 Orloff still hanging in there, but 1 BWA still has a really damaged air cell and I doubt the CAM will have enough space to grow towards the end. :(  )

In contrast, 9/10 of my homegrown eggs are doing well, one was clear. Probably not fertile, when I cracked it it looked like I had just taken it out of the refrigerator.

So 17 left on day 7.  We'll see what the next 2 weeks holds.

That stinks. I'm sorry. :hugs I pretty much only do shipped eggs unless it's my SLP. Even then they are infertile at this point. Lol!

Sorry Friday

Shipped eggs are such a gamble, but often the only way to get certain breeds. Two other people in town have had similar luck with shipped eggs, and they are convinced the change in altitude is a big factor. Everything has to go through the main Albuquerque hub to get here, so maybe it's a rough transfer station like some others around the country. Who knows.

Depending on what hatches, the seller will send me more for the cost of shipping, which is a nice offer. May have to order chicks some day.

Yep. I have to agree. Shipping is a huge gamble. I like it when breeders offer that deal for shipping. Because it comes in handy sometimes.

I am partially excited to try shipped eggs and mostly nervous. I'm going to set my appenzeller spitzhauben's eggs along with the shipped so that if we don't have good luck with them, we at least get something...lol I'm pretty certain I have it figured out which ones are hers....
