I've never shipped eggs either, but from having them shipped to me I have learned:
Individual bubble wrap for each egg
packing material all around so they can't move inside the first box
first box goes into a second box that is big enough to leave space on all sides for packing material
Packing material on ALL sides, between inner and outer box.
I think this last step would have made a big difference in the shape of our eggs. The first shipper individually wrapped the eggs, but only used one box and there was no padding at the front/back of the box.
Second shipper used two boxes and individually wrapped, but there was no space in between the front of the boxes, so no padding, even with two boxes.
I think the general idea is make sure there is plenty of paddingfor each egg, and that the eggs can't move around inside of the box, then make sure there is plenty of padding in between the two boxes so that shock can be absorbed.
Does that sound about right, experts?

By the way, shipped eggs have a higher rate of dying during lockdown, too. So don't count your chickens before they are hatched!
Your gardens sound great!
I had big plans for lasagna or BTE gardening, but could not get enough bio matter to cover the garden with more than an inch or two. So it looks like I'm going to let the big sections lie fallow this year, and keep adding any organic matter that I can find. I can harvest my comfrey this year, and will have grass clippings, chicken manure and straw. Will need to get on the list for some wood chips from a tree company.
Oh, wow. Those are pretty birds. I love the coloring on the BWA's. Hopefully we will get at least a few out of this hatch! I'll hope for you, too, while I'm at it.
My back is envious of your fallowed ground. I am in way over my head(as usual). I am also planning to till up a few hundred SQFT for field peas and okra for a friend. We'll see about that! The soil we ordered wasn't quite enough to fill all of our beds, so I've been out in the woods digging up topsoil and leaf mold. Luckily, the chickens gave us all the fertilizer we needed last year, so we are good there. We'll be starting a vermicompost operation soon, too. And here I am hatching chickens, lol.

We have a problem. Im thinkn my hatch is thru, got 38/49 for 77 1/2%. But. Like six of my hatchers have fused toessome get around pretty well some dont, i was thinkn id try chick shoes. What about as adults? How did it happen?
