I have life in all but one khaki egg And that one only because it turns out it was cracked. One even has a detached air cell and it's growing. All this after being washed and refrigerated. And I have 24+ more eggs on the way that I'm going to have to somehow fit into my incubator...yikes!

Are you hatching Mandarins??? I did not mean that they should not be hatched! I hope my post didn't come across that way! For me, with the kids I need a duck they can torture...I mean love on like crazy!! I'm so curious now to hear if you are hatching them!! That is a "someday" dream of mine!

No love u didn't come across as offensive! Only as a concerned keeper, no offense taken! I didn't think about how you have to be concerned about your boys wanting to look and touch. Things are usually a bit more relaxed around here than other homes and I only felt the need to clarify that the Mandarins I saw in person were not any worse than the other ducks I've owned.

That being said? I am not currently cookn em, but I have contacted a breeder in TN who's sold out right now, and he told me try him again in a month.

We're thinking fox. Or a dog, but likely fox. At least it'll give me a bigger target to shoot at if someone gets me a gun.    I told Cayden that I told (my nephew) Art that I needed to borrow one of his guns and my son says, does it have one of those things that you look in? (Scope). I laughed and said probably not. He says I think you need one of them if you are going to hit it.  LOL  He's probably right. I have  never shot anything other than a pellet gun and a paint ball gun and that was years ago!!! lol

Note to self:  I will never, never, never break open an egg after hatch completion to check to see why they didn't hatch until 48 hours after last hatch.  I killed a chick today.

Okay. Woke up this morning to one of my duck eggs breaking the shell at the wrong end. So, I immediately opened the shell about as big as a dime. The sac is still very veiny and I'm nearly certain the yolk hasnt absorbed yet. I wrapped a wet paper towel aroung him and put him back in the bator. Anything else I should do now?
