She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

LOL. Not much to show at the 24 hour candle...geesh....lol I have noticed a distict darker circle on the yolks of these eggs that I have never noticed on any others. I'm still worried I am making a mistake and it's too soon to use my pullet eggs, even though most are a decent size. I guess we'll find out. Three more hours and I'll be in day 2...lol
I'm teling you, pullet eggs are fine. I would be more concerned about them being scrambled from the constant handling, or fried by the LG

Yes I had 97% hatch rate with pullet eggs , twice . Most of the eggs were med/lg . They were not even laying good size eggs . I would be more concerned about all the handeling too.

I honestly believe the EEs I hatched last weekend we're pullet eggs the chicks we're tiny the eggs small the eggs we're ebay eggs started with 19 end up with 11. I need roosters and can't find breeding age EEs anywhere around me. the eggs came from the N.C coast But I did get 11 Just hope there's roosters in there you already rolled the dice hope you get 7s &11s and besides we're all pulling for you.

I am not concerned about the handling..lol my last two hatches were 13/16 and 33/36

. People don't give eggs and chicks the credit they deserve. My chicks are always healthy and I've never had foot/leg issues. I've had one so far that had pasty butt and digestive problems, he died about 9 days after hatch (my next to the last hatch). I had one this last hatch, I think she was a chantecler that I found dead in the brooder. No idea why. No blood, seemed perfectly healthy before hand. I am wondering if she got bowled over during one of their freak out moments (vacuum or something) when they all rushed one end of the cage and she got trampled. She was flat when I found her and they were standing on her. And I had one hatch this last hatch that popped out of his shell (I mean he exploded from the tip top of the egg, I have pics) between 4-5 hours after pip with a ruptured yolk sac and heavily functioning egg to chick vascular system. Needless to say, he didn't make it. I've never had a chick pip or zip and die in shell. So overview: last hatch 92% with only 2 after hatch deaths, I'm happy with that.

I have 4 EE roosters right now that I would give you if you were close enough. I split a hatch with a friend to get a few more EE laying hens and a rooster, and I have a few more than I need. It's amazing the different colors that come out of those birds. All 5 of my roosters look totally different. 3 bearded, 2 non-bearded, and colors from white to black to red. I'm having a hard time deciding which one to keep. I want a bearded one for breeding, but one of the non- beardeds will jump on my shoulder. I've never had a rooster do that. The most timid one is also gorgeous. A white bease, but the most beautiful mix of red and black I have seen on an EE, and his tail is black with the green sheen. I'm having a hard time with this one. I may turn the pretty one loose in the girls-only pen and see how they take to him. There are a few EEs in there, and those girls are getting a little long in the tooth, anyway

Yes, I meant to clarify that. I am going to constantly give Amy grief for handling and fussing over the eggs, but she gets good results and I respect her for it. That's what this thread is all about, to show that there are many different ways to be successful

One of my ee roos from this last hatch is beautiful. Both ees (green eggs) that hatched were a silver/blue and I believe ones a roo and ones a pullet. The alledged roo I have named Christian Gray, because, well, basically he's 50 shades of gray!!! lol See:

My alledged pullet it fairly one shade:

Both are showing the Aracauna tufts. (At least in person you can see them...lol

Pretty birds!

Here's my EE roo. He hasn't mated in several months, since I got him from my sister in law. I don't have any adult hens right now. Depending on how many hens I introduce, I will probably have to get rid of this guy, or my dark Brahma. But I love them both.

Christian Gray is gorgeous and a great name! My turkey is showing lots of shades of gray now. But I'm fairly certain she's a hen.
