She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Wanted to to give a little update ! I followed some good advice you all shared with me and all the eggs hatched except one that died during the night during hatching. It pipped before bed and I got up at 4:15 AM and it hadn't made any progress. I got up again at 6 AM and it had moved beyond the first pip and had started pipping on the other side of the egg, but didn't make it out. I hated losing it after it had tried so hard to get out frown emoticon Thank you everyone for great advice !!!

That's fantastic. I've never had 100% from lockdown

well I'm happy for both of you both have great hatch rates and I can only dream of a100% hatch rate. by the time I learned about the Brinsea I had spent so much money on chickens my wife was ready to shoot me and not knowing of the BYC it was just by chance that found out about them .I typed humidity in incubation and found there web site the humidity page was awesome and the incubator sounded incredible till I got to the price and wife was reading with me .I can't post what she said when I said I want one but you get the picture.

I got one hatch this morning and several pips on backyard chicks that I wasn't expecting until tomorrow. First one was 15 minutes pip/zip/pop. That is one baby in a hurry. And that was after moving the eggs while in lockdown from one incubator to another, and not giving any attention to which way the dip in the air cell is and just rolling them on in.

sorry you lost one how many do you have in this hatch you have so many its hard to remember

I've said many times, high hatch rates aren't as impressive in a Brinsea. They just hatch that well without having to work it much, but you pay for the convenience. I am honestly amazed at the hatch you had in that old Brower. I wish you could see my face, because I really am impressed. Sure, I get 85-95%, but it cost me $400. You had a lot of good looking chicks in that thing, and I didn't see any splayed legs. If I tried using that I would probably end up with omelettes

That's great! Well all but the one, but thats a great rate! Usually if they pip in one spot and then a totally different spot there is a problem. Sometimes it has to do with the size and not being able to turn, sometimes the membranes start drying making it hard for them to turn and sometimes their body position just isn't right. Usually once they pip they do a pretty astonishing straight line right around the egg. Well, congrats!!

After pitching yet another stink bomb ISA Brown this morning, and removing the "Eggbeater Turkey Edition", my incubator finally smells like eggs, not like stink. If I ever lose my sense of smell I will need to stop incubating because the nose knows. I now understand why hens push eggs out of the nest they think are bad and I would too if I had to sit on them. Nasty.
