She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

An interesting observation from my styro bator. When the humidity was lower, say 25-35%, the thermometer in the top of the bator was reading off by 1.5F or so. Since I raised the humidity, the temperature has gone down, but the difference between actual and the bator has also gone away. So right now, with the bator at 60% humidity, the bator thermo matches the digital spot check thermo I got from Brinsea.

Hahaha isn't it funny how that humidity changes temp so much.

You obviously have a faulty styrobator if the temps are reading correctly

Styros always have faulty temp gauges. Lol!

BTW, been meaning to ask...where in the Brinsea menu options is the one for setting the humidity alarm?:idunno

.....it should have one especially for that price!

There's a humidity alarm? I'll have to look...
Well, good news and bad news. I didn't tell you guys I've been letting a broody BCM sit on four eggs as a test. Bad news is she killed 2 before they hatched. Good news is Tate is doing his job : thumbsup
I will start collecting eggs and hope to set sometime next weekend. BCM pullet eggs with a young rooster. Guess we'll see how it goes. I'm not changing humidity. Going to go with my standard 40% and see what happens

Stupid broody! That sucks I'm sorry.

So technically day 18 started 30 mind ago. I can hear cheep in every now and then but no external pips just yet. More eggs are shaking around now. Time is getting closer! :)

@AmyLynn2374

So, my 'bator setup is a bit risky come hatch time for wandering chooks:
700

I have a copper coil as a heat sink and to keep eggs from rolling off the ledge when the time comes but I am wondering: how soon is too soon to stick them in the brooder?

Should you wait until they are puffy or is it ok to relocate them immediately after they hatch during their post hatch nap?

OMG! I have to tell you guys the funniest thing! I got up to go to the bathroom this morning and this horrible noise was coming from the chicks. I swear I thought one was dying! I was scared to look! Three times I heard this horrible sound. I finally get to the living room to see my 7 week old trying to crow! Needless to say, HE needs a lot of practice because he sounds like a dying animal!

My CCL rooster did that at 8 weeks. Scared the mess out of me.
