I didn't know you guys were that close
I just figured something out, though it may not be new. We are in the middle of a vicious heat wave, and there's not a lot more I can do for the chickens. I decided to take a garden hose and soak half of the ground in each pen. They love it! We have some serious group dust bathing going on

The heat is unreal this year. I take out 3 gallon waterers with electrolytes added and 2 quarts of ice in each every afternoon at about 2. I also make Popsicles from canned corn. I have been turning on the fan at 2pm for them too. They are all completely in the shade all day with plenty of ventilation. They still pant. I feel really bad for them as it is now past 2pn and I am sitting here typing this. Laterz

yes I did. My lil babies were in the pouring rain. I'm too lazy to go check on them now that the rain is stopped. They'll be fine.

I water most of my run every other day if it's over 90. Chooks love to dig down and lay in the damp ground under the leaves.
